Southern Nevada Children First’s leadership and staff provide services to homeless pregnant and parenting youth and transitioned age youth through an array of programs designed to address homeless prevention, intervention, and follow-up services. Since in inception in 2007, SNCF has addressed long term housing, educational, financial, mental and behavioral health care needs of these individuals. In Southern Nevada, we are the leading nonprofit provider of services to this population with a continuum of care ranging from intensive case management, housing, education and training, workforce development, and mental/behavioral health care.

Housing Programs

Through its long term housing programs youth are taken off the street and given the opportunity to reside in the program for up to two years. Youth are provided intensive case management to help stabilize them, connect them to mainstream benefits, re-engage them in the education system, while training them to enter the workforce.

  • Transitional Housing
    • Brings in youth and young adults ages 16-24 who are pregnant and/or parenting. They are in an integrated program which helps them to self-sufficiency. In this program youth live with a roommate which fosters a sense of community, responsibility and support.
  • Permanent Housing
    • Chronically homeless youth with medical or mental health disabilities are provided intensive case management, counseling and assistance in stabilization and integration into mainstream society. Youth are provided services needed to maintain their own home, with the goal of long-term stability.
  • Maternity Group Home
    • For youth and young adults who are 16-21 years old, runaway/throw away youth are provided a group home setting where they learn how to effectively parent and attend school.
  • Rapid Rehousing Program
    • Provides financial assistance and services to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless and help those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized.
Life Skills Training

Education and Training: Incorporates life and employment skills training curriculum that introduces and develops youth’s knowledge and skills to important aspects of transitioning into adulthood.

  • Dreamz in Motion
    • Work Experience Program (WEX) offers paid job placement opportunities for 5 weeks. Participants are given on-the-job training, which increases their ability to secure and maintain employment upon completion of the WEX program.
    • Job Readiness Training is a 5 week course that teaches youth how to prepare for job interviews, obtain and sustain employment.

Southern Nevada Children First Behavioral Health Program (SNCF-BHP) assists individuals to find answers to their questions and to discrover their inner strengths. We also strive to help families to identify at-risk behaviors that affect their level of functioning within the community, their family and work and/or educational settings.
